University promises swift action

Carnegie Mellon said Monday that professor Uju Anya's recent social media posts violated community standards. Some of her colleagues told administrators they now fear for their own safety.
What leadership said she wrote
President Farnam Jahanian and Provost James H. Garrett Jr. said Anya used expletives, racial slurs and derogatory language while invoking her Carnegie Mellon affiliation.
“language that demeaned, dehumanized and intimidated”
Drawing the line on speech
The statement framed the school as a place where open inquiry and mutual respect have to coexist, and rejected rhetoric that disparages or calls for harm.
“We strongly reject language that is hateful and disparages or calls for the harm of others.”
The posts in question

Near the anniversary of Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk's assassination, Anya posted on X, "They began already, and it ain't even Kirkmas kirk mubarak, y'all!" Her account now appears deleted.
“Die first, White man, and then ask yourself why I am dancing.”
She is already on leave
Carnegie Mellon noted Anya is on voluntary professional leave through summer 2027 and is not teaching any classes this academic year, which limits what discipline would change day to day.
Faculty say they were doxxed

Leaders met with faculty and staff over the weekend, where employees described being doxxed and receiving threatening messages. Campus police found no credible threats to the university.
Students demand she be fired
The CMU College Republicans cited her 2022 post wishing excruciating pain on Queen Elizabeth II as proof of a pattern, and called for her termination.
“Friday's posts demonstrate a clear pattern of behavior.”
What it means
Carnegie Mellon says Uju Anya's posts broke community standards and promised swift action, though she is already on leave through summer 2027.
