Bayes Wilder added Diarrhea Mouth to a résumé that already looks like a full career.

In brief

Bayes Wilder added Diarrhea Mouth to a résumé that already looks like a full career. Wilder has been climbing 5.14 since he was 10, and Rifle's 9a took him only a couple of sessions. Originally reported by Gripped Magazine.

Teenager ticks 9a

Teenager ticks 9a

Bayes Wilder, 15, climbed Diarrhea Mouth 5.14d in Rifle, Colorado. It's a Joe Kinder line from 2018 that has seen a handful of repeats since.

Soft for the grade

Jon Cardwell took the second ascent, and Tyler Thompson and Jonathan Siegrist have both repeated it. Thompson and Siegrist reckon it sits low in the 5.14d range.

A couple of sessions

Wilder described it as hard, powerful and a real test of power endurance, and said he was psyched to keep climbing in the canyon.

“Nice to finally do this one after a couple sessions.”

Raised on Team ABC

He trains with Team ABC under Robyn Erbesfield-Raboutou, the program behind Shawn and Brooke Raboutou, Colin Duffy, Megan Mascarenas and Margo Hayes.

5.14 at age ten

Wilder sent his first 5.14a, Rodeo Free Europe in Wild Iris, at 10. Four months later he climbed Southern Smoke, a 5.14c at the Red River Gorge.

A loaded year

In March he sent Twenty-Four Karats and Golden Ticket, both 5.14c, two days apart. In August he made links on Bibliographie 5.15c in Céüse, then sent Doubloons at 13,000 ft on Mount Blue Sky.

The headline

Wilder has been climbing 5.14 since he was 10, and Rifle's 9a took him only a couple of sessions.
