Italian climber's four-day sending spree

Gio Placci, 25, climbed four 5.14d routes in four consecutive days after his competition season ended. He sent Prima Classe, Narcissus, Trainspotting, and Vivi si Muore with two to three attempts each.

Strong competition season sets stage

Placci earned silver at the European Championships and finished seventh at the World Cup in Koper before shifting focus to outdoor climbing.

July flash of The Famous Gem

In July, Placci flashed The Famous Gem 5.14d at La Saume in France, his hardest flash ever and a rare achievement at that grade. The ascent came after he flashed San Ku Kai 5.14c days earlier.

“The place immediately felt special. High in the mountains, with perfect summer conditions, incredible lines and amazing views, it's already one of the most beautiful crags I've ever climbed.”

Pushing limits on flash attempts

Placci came close to flashing all four routes during his four-day run, nearly succeeding on Vivi si Muore before slipping on the final move with his left hand.

“I fell on my flash go at the last sketchy move at the top, my left hand slipped while I had the right hand already on the final hold.”

Routes suit his climbing style

The four 5.14d lines at La Stazione and Albenga matched Placci's strengths but demanded perfection, leaving no room for mistakes on flash attempts.

“All three lines are perfect flash-style routes and fit my style really well. But the flash game leaves no room for mistakes.”

Next target is La Rage d'Adam

Placci is now refocused on his main project, La Rage d'Adam 5.15c, after the successful four-day run proved he's in peak climbing form.

“Now I'm super motivated to get back to my main project.”
