Districts set for Class 4A golf
The Iowa High School Athletic Association announced four district sites for Class 4A boys golf. Cedar Falls, Le Mars, North Scott and Waukee Northwest will host meets on October 5.
Path to state championships
The top three teams from each district qualify for state championships on October 12-13 at Davenport Country Club in Pleasant Valley. The top two individual players from non-qualifying teams also advance.
Jonathan Ward leads the state
Waukee's Jonathan Ward tops the leaderboard with an 18-hole adjusted average of 68.82. North Scott's Jaxon Adkisson is second at 70.08, followed by Chase Perrin of Dallas Center-Grimes at 70.34.
North Scott team leads rankings
North Scott has the lowest team adjusted 18-hole average in the state. Dallas Center-Grimes, Pleasant Valley, Waukee Northwest and Southeast Polk round out the top five teams.
Last year's champion returns
Andrew Johannsen of Johnston won last year's state title with a 2-under score of 71. Adkisson and Ward finished one shot behind him.
Dowling Catholic won team title
Dowling Catholic claimed the team state championship last year, edging the defending champion Dragons. The race for this year's title is wide open.
Cedar Falls district details
Cedar Falls hosts at Pheasant Ridge Golf Course with 14 teams including Cedar Rapids Jefferson, Iowa City High, Mason City and Southeast Polk.
Le Mars and North Scott sites
Le Mars hosts at Willow Creek Golf Course with 14 teams including Dowling Catholic and Dallas Center-Grimes. North Scott hosts at Glynns Creek with 14 teams including Pleasant Valley.
Waukee Northwest district
Waukee Northwest hosts at Lake Panorama National Golf Course with 14 teams including Ames, Ankeny, Johnston and Des Moines schools.
