Family Tradition
Anastasia Casey, founder of The Interior Collective, designed a Lake Tahoe cabin for multigenerational use.
“My entire vision for this house is romanticized.”
Generational Memories
The cabin has hosted family gatherings for decades with every street holding its own collection of memories.
Design Vision
Anastasia wanted the house to feel old, collected, and part of the family across four generations.
Property Challenges
Decades of renovations left mismatched wood finishes, faux paneling, and awkward architectural decisions.
Multigenerational Space
The cabin needed to accommodate several generations in its relatively small communal areas.
Living Room Transformation
Anastasia used a floating mid-century staircase to create space for furniture and a pantry under the stairs.
Textured Interior
Benjamin Moore's 'White Dove' walls and textured mix of leather, wood, stone, and patterned textiles create a warm interior.
Vintage Coffee Table
A Texas cypress tree-trunk coffee table from Anastasia's Austin home became the centerpiece of the living room.
Kitchen Reuse
Approximately 16 linear feet of cabinetry from Anastasia's Austin studio were repurposed for the Tahoe kitchen.
Kitchen Layout
Moving the dining table into a corner banquette freed six feet of floor space for a larger kitchen island.
Dining Nook
A round table and wicker banquette create a sociable dining area without sacrificing circulation space.
Plaid Bedroom
Anastasia's 'Vintage Plaid' wallpaper wraps walls in warm blues, muted brick reds, and deep moss greens.
Striped Bedroom
A vintage Levi's sign and striped wallpaper create a 'Wes Anderson room' with playful color contrasts.
Master Bedroom
Natural grasscloth extends across walls and steeply pitched ceilings to emphasize the A-frame architecture.
Double Queen Bedroom
Identical bed frames with subtle variations in cushions and throws create a shared sleeping space for families.
Bathroom Design
Plaid-inspired tile grids and vintage rugs add playful texture to the functional bathrooms.
