Kitchen Color Trends for 2027

Color is one of the most difficult design decisions in a kitchen.

Moving Away from Whites

Designers say kitchens are shifting from whites to warmer, richer palettes for timeless appeal.

Nuanced Earthy Shades

Rich reds like burgundy, merlot, and oxblood are classic kitchen colors for 2027.

“I think we'll continue moving away from kitchens that rely heavily on white, gray, or very safe neutrals, but I don't necessarily see that translating into overly saturated colors either.”

Jewel-Tone Purples Return

Purple kitchens use deeper, muddier shades like aubergine for luxurious, earthy appeal.

“I think the purples we're going to see more of in kitchens are the deeper, muddier shades: aubergine, plum and raisin rather than brighter, sweeter purples.”

Dusty Blue and Maroon Pairing

Soft dusty blues pair with deep maroon for a sophisticated, relaxed kitchen contrast.

“Based on what we've seen so far, the pairing of dusty blues with shades of maroon is going to be a big trend this year.”

Muted Browns Dominate

Soft brown tones like Virtual Taupe offer muted, rich kitchen palettes for 2027.

“I think a big color for 2027 will be a soft and muted brown, like Virtual Taupe by Sherwin-Williams.”

Softer Olive Replaces Darker Greens

Olive green kitchens use softer shades for warmer, earthy appeal in 2027.

“Olive feels a little more relaxed and earthy, less moody, more livable, which fits where a lot of clients' tastes seem to be heading.”

Warm Taupes Take Over

Warm taupe kitchens balance pared-back elegance with rich, inviting design for 2027.

“I think we’ll continue to see a shift toward warmer, more nuanced neutrals in kitchens in 2027.”

Ochre and Maroon Combination

Deep maroon paired with ochre creates a bold, country-inspired kitchen palette for 2027.

“Another big combo I think we’re going to see in 2027 is a deep maroon paired with ochre.”
