Michael J. Fox and Tracy Pollan's Christmas Tree

Michael J. Fox and Tracy Pollan's Christmas tree decor blends heirlooms, handmade pieces, and vintage finds for a nostalgic holiday look.

“For years, Christmas decorating was all about perfectly coordinated color schemes. But this year, decorators are embracing trees with a little more history.”

Nostalgic Decor Trend

This characterful approach to Christmas decor is emerging as a major trend for 2026, with heirloom trees celebrating family traditions and handmade ornaments.

Design Expert Insight

David Sumner, Design Expert at Christmas Tree World explains that heirloom trees celebrate family traditions, handmade ornaments, travel souvenirs, and childhood decorations.

“Every decoration tells a story, and every branch holds a memory.”

Key Ornaments

Hand-painted monogram ornaments, felted holiday hobby ornaments, glass floral wreaths, and vintage milk ornaments add nostalgic charm to the tree.

Expert Recommendation

Josh Branigan, Furniture and Home Interiors Expert at bedkingdom, says this year’s trees will feel curated rather than coordinated.

Nostalgic Decor Strategy

Layer novelty shapes, glitter, and clashing patterns on the tree, then carry the look through the rest of the home with colorful lights and playful decorations.
