Vance removes 750K Obamacare enrollees

Vice President JD Vance's White House Task Force to Eliminate Fraud has removed 750,000 Affordable Care Act enrollments suspected of being fraudulent, unauthorized, or ineligible.
“We are stopping Obamacare enrollment for about 750,000 people who we believe are fraudulently enrolled in the program.”
Savings estimated at $2.2 billion
The removals will cancel subsidy payments and save taxpayers an estimated $2.2 billion, according to Vance and Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services Administrator Dr. Mehmet Oz.
Who was removed from the rolls
The affected enrollments include people who allegedly did not know they were enrolled, those with access to employer coverage, and those earning more than income limits for subsidized plans.
469 brokers banned, six-month moratorium

CMS plans to terminate 469 insurance agents and brokers and impose a nationwide moratorium on new brokers for six months. The agency already removed 66 from the federal exchange.
“There will be no new brokers for Obamacare in this country for the next six months.”
Brokers drove bulk of fraud
Administration officials said 40 agents and brokers generated 50,000 allegedly fraudulent enrollments costing the government $45 million. Marketplace brokers are typically paid by insurers for enrolling consumers.
Additional verification for 419K enrollees
CMS will review the immigration status and income eligibility of 419,000 current enrollees to ensure they are legal U.S. residents and meet income thresholds for subsidized coverage.
Enrollment surged under Biden
ACA enrollment rose from about 10 million to more than 22 million during the Biden administration, driven by expanded subsidies and loosened verification requirements that officials say enabled improper enrollments.
Here's the gist
The administration removed 750,000 ACA enrollments it says are fraudulent or ineligible, and is banning new brokers for six months to combat what it calls widespread abuse.
