Siri AI expands to HomePod
Apple's advanced Siri system, called Linwood, is coming to HomePod according to code found in HomePod Software 27. The update includes new status lights in Siri AI's white, blue, and orange colors.
New hardware may be required
Since Siri AI isn't available on existing HomePods despite Software 27 being out, support will likely be limited to new HomePod models with faster processors.
HomePod mini getting faster chip
The updated HomePod mini is expected to get an S9 chip or newer, possibly even the S11 chip from Apple Watch Series 12. It may also add the N1 networking chip and a newer Ultra Wideband chip.
iPhone required for full features
HomePod mini will work like Apple Watch Series 9 and later, offering some Siri AI and Apple Intelligence features only when used with a compatible iPhone.
Apple TV 4K and home hub also updating
Apple TV 4K is getting a processor capable of supporting Siri AI, and Apple is working on a dedicated home hub with Siri AI integration. Both could launch as soon as October.
Full-size HomePod timeline unclear
Apple is working on an updated full-size HomePod, but its launch date remains uncertain. The HomePod mini redesign is not expected, but new colors may arrive.
The big picture
Siri AI support on HomePod will likely require new hardware with faster processors, arriving as soon as October.
