MA63 is a solemn national pledge

Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim says the Malaysia Agreement 1963 is a binding promise made by Malaysia's founding leaders that must be respected and fully implemented.
“We have made a promise. Our forefathers decided to strengthen this bond.”
Peninsular Malaysia must embrace MA63
Anwar stressed that MA63 cannot be resolved unless leaders in Peninsular Malaysia stop viewing it as only affecting Sabah and Sarawak.
“This issue is unlikely to be resolved as long as some believe MA63 is only for Sabah and Sarawak.”
Nine MA63 issues now resolved
The Madani Government has resolved nine matters under MA63, including recognizing Sabah and Sarawak's public works and irrigation departments as technical departments.
IRB appointments and regulatory powers
Resolved matters also include appointing permanent representatives from Sabah and Sarawak to the Inland Revenue Board and handing over electricity regulatory powers to Sabah.
Bintulu Port transferred to Sarawak
The Madani Government transferred control of Bintulu Port to Sarawak, viewing it as a vital asset for both the state and Malaysia's overall prosperity.
“When Bintulu Port belongs to Sarawak, it remains a vital port for Malaysia.”
Shared prosperity requires cooperation
Anwar emphasized that resolving MA63 matters requires good cooperation between state and federal governments, as Sarawak and Sabah's success directly benefits Malaysia.
“If Sarawak prospers, it brings prosperity to Malaysia as well.”
