New charges against Serba Dinamik

Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim said the Securities Commission pursued fresh charges against Serba Dinamik Berhad and its managing director in early 2026.

“Under the Madani administration, the SC pursued investigations into other transactions involving Datuk Karim. This action led to charges being filed against him and another individual in early 2026 regarding transactions and false statements involving Sarawak Consolidated Industries Berhad”

Previous charges dropped in 2022

The SC initially charged Serba Dinamik and its managing director in December 2021 over false statements to Bursa Malaysia but dropped charges in May 2022 after RM16 million compounds.

Corporate mafia probe underway

Anwar instructed an Attorney General task force to finalize and publicly release findings on alleged corporate mafia linked to hostile takeovers within three months.

Task force scope

The task force involves MACC, PDRM, Bank Negara, SC, LHDN, and AMLA to investigate alleged corporate mafia and hostile takeovers.

Transparency pledge

Anwar denied government protection of involved parties and pledged full public disclosure of task force findings regardless of names mentioned.

Market impact

Serba Dinamik’s market capitalisation dropped from RM6 billion in early 2020 to about RM50 million by late December 2022.

Public disclosure timeline

The Attorney General task force report on corporate mafia will be made public within three months of instruction.
