Databricks commits 350 million to Singapore

The data and AI platform announced a 350 million dollar investment over three years to accelerate AI growth in Singapore, positioning the city as its regional hub for Asia Pacific and Japan.
New 32,000 sq ft headquarters coming
Databricks will quadruple its Singapore office space to 32,000 square feet and double its local workforce to more than 500 people.
Training 20,000 in AI skills
Databricks will train 20,000 people in Singapore with data and AI skills over three years, addressing talent shortages that keep Southeast Asian companies stuck in the experimentation phase.
Supporting startups and enterprises
New AI programmes will help startups build AI-native businesses from day one and enable enterprises to move their most important AI use cases into production at scale.
Aligns with Singapore's AI strategy
The investment supports Singapore's National AI Strategy and enables Databricks to work more closely with customers, partners, and government agencies on governed AI systems at scale.
“This enables Databricks to work more closely with customers, partners and government agencies as organisations transition from AI experimentation to deploying governed AI systems at scale.”
Southeast Asia's AI challenge
More than half of Southeast Asian companies remain stuck in the experimentation phase due to fragmented data infrastructure and talent shortages, limiting regional AI spending growth.
Singapore as long-term investment
Databricks Senior Vice President Simon Davies said Singapore is one of the world's leading markets for enterprise AI, where the company is building for the long term, not just operating.
“It is why we believe Singapore is one of the world's leading markets for enterprise AI, not just where we operate but where we're building for the long term.”
