Pending assemblywoman hints Sarawak election date

Pending assemblywoman Violet Yong believes the next Sarawak election will be held either on December 12 or December 19, this year.

“Until we meet again in the next term of the Sarawak State Legislative Assembly (DUN) after the state election, which is going to be held soon and my guess is on the 12th or 19th of December”

DUN Speaker Tan Sri Datuk Amar Mohamad Asfia Awang Nasar said this DUN session would be the last of the current term.

Election date uncertainty

The official dissolution date for the DUN has not yet been confirmed, though the term expires in February 2028.

Reason for remarks

Violet Yong said her comments were a way to thank Deputy Speaker Datuk Idris Buang for presiding over the session.
