Sony owes PlayStation buyers $7.85 million
Sony's proposed settlement could drop wallet credit into your PlayStation account without you lifting a finger.
In brief
Sony's proposed settlement could drop wallet credit into your PlayStation account without you lifting a finger. If you bought an eligible digital PS game between April 2019 and the end of 2023 and your PSN account is still active, the credit lands automatically. Originally reported by Mashable.
Free credit may be coming

Sony has proposed a $7.85 million settlement for U.S. PlayStation Store customers. Eligible people with active accounts get paid automatically, no forms involved.
“A digital PlayStation game you bought years ago could soon put a little credit back in your account.”
The window that matters
You qualify if you were in the U.S. and bought an eligible digital game on the PlayStation Store between April 1, 2019 and Dec. 31, 2023.
Which games count

The official list includes The Last of Us Remastered, Until Dawn, No Man's Sky and NBA 2K18. Editions matter: Bloodborne only counts as the Complete Edition Bundle.
Why Sony got sued
A May 2021 class action targeted Sony's April 2019 move to stop third-party retailers selling download vouchers. Plaintiffs said it killed competition and raised prices. Sony denies wrongdoing.
“Plaintiffs argued that the change forced customers to buy those digital games through the PlayStation Store”
How a game made the list
Qualifying titles had retail download vouchers before April 2019, at least 200 voucher redemptions before that cutoff, and a price rise of at least 50 cents afterward.
What you might get
There is no flat payout. Your share scales with how many qualifying games you bought, paid as PlayStation Store wallet credit after final approval.
“more eligible purchases resulting in a larger payment”
The big picture
If you bought an eligible digital PS game between April 2019 and the end of 2023 and your PSN account is still active, the credit lands automatically.
