A new cast every season

Reacher resets its ensemble each season. Only Alan Ritchson's title character carries over, so every run means meeting a fresh set of people he decides to trust.

“the only character who really carries over from one to the next is the titular big guy himself”

Meet Jacob Merrick

Season 4 introduces a small-town cop who becomes one of the few people Reacher can rely on while a much bigger conspiracy closes in around them.

It starts on a train

Jacob's sister dies by suicide, and Reacher had met her in the season's opening scene. Confused and grieving, Jacob joins the case to find out what actually happened.

Grief with a badge

His drive to find the truth, shot through with sadness and regret, keeps the season human. The conspiracy runs through government and across oceans, but the cost lands on one family.

“Jacob's unrelenting drive to find the truth combined with an obvious bit of sadness and regret is vital to season 4”

He holds his own

Jacob is not just there to grieve. He and Tamara Green, played by Sydelle Noel, drive through a car chase that peaks on top of a small bridge.

“It's intense!”

The role almost went elsewhere

Jay Baruchel was originally cast as Jacob. He moved to a part in season 5, and Christopher Rodriguez-Marquette took the role instead.

A child star at 41

Credited over the years as Chris Marquette and Christopher Marquette, he debuted in a 1991 episode of Barney and the Backyard Gang and has worked steadily since.

You know him already

He played Ryan Reynolds's brother in Just Friends, turned up in Freddy vs. Jason, Alpha Dog, and Fanboys, and had a recurring run on Barry as one of Barry's Marine buddies.
