Alonso's Historic Season

Pete Alonso became the first MLB player to have two seasons finishing as the RBI leader in each league.

RBI Leadership in 2022 and 2023

In 2022, Alonso led the National League with 131 RBIs for the Mets, and this year he recorded an American League-high 113 RBIs for the Orioles.

RBI Title History

RBIs have been an official stat since 1920, taking 106 years for Alonso to become the first player to win the title in both leagues.

AL RBI Champion

Alonso was the American League’s top run producer with 113 RBIs, leading the league in home runs with 43.

Teammates' Praise

Shortstop Gunnar Henderson called Alonso’s season 'unbelievable' and said he’s 'so cool to watch' and 'awesome to have around'.

“His year has been unbelievable. You just laugh every time he hits a homer now. It’s so cool to watch. It’s so fun to be a part of and to be on the team with him. He’s been just awesome to have around, and really looking forward to playing with him for many years.”

Postseason Disappointment

Alonso was disappointed the Orioles (79-82) couldn’t make the postseason after failing to reach the playoffs for the second consecutive year.
