Woman files false claim retraction

A woman who accused rapper Jay-Z of sexual assault in 2024 has recanted her allegations. She filed a declaration in Manhattan federal court on Thursday stating her original claims were false.
Original lawsuit and allegations
Jane Doe filed a civil lawsuit in 2024 claiming Jay-Z and Sean Diddy Combs drugged and raped her in 2000 when she was thirteen years old. She was represented by Texas attorney Tony Buzbee.
Both men denied allegations
Jay-Z and Combs both denied the allegations. Carter issued a statement claiming he was the target of an extortion campaign. Jane Doe dropped the lawsuit against both men several months later.
Jay-Z sues for malicious prosecution

In February of 2025, Jay-Z sued Buzbee and Jane Doe for malicious prosecution and defamation. The woman has now been dismissed as a defendant from Carter's lawsuit.
Accuser denies ever meeting Jay-Z
In her court declaration, the woman stated she never met Jay-Z or spoke to him. She wrote that the allegations were filed by attorneys without any independent investigation conducted.
“Shawn 'Jay-Z' Carter never raped me. I have never met or spoken to Mr. Carter. Mr. Carter never engaged in any inappropriate conduct toward me whatsoever.”
Jay-Z celebrates album anniversary
The developments come as Jay-Z celebrates the thirtieth anniversary of his debut album Reasonable Doubt with concerts at Yankee Stadium and an HBO docuseries titled JAŸ-Z In 8.
