A laugh at a fake AI slapping video turned a historic Texas win into a public apology. Laughing along with an AI fake makes you part of it, and the person in the video is the one who pays. Originally reported by New York Post.
A win, then a mess

Texas quarterback Arch Manning came back from a historic comeback over No. 1 Ohio State straight into a controversy of his own making.
The snub that started it

Sarkisian blew off Holly Rowe's live postgame interview Saturday night, shouting "Texas Fight. Hook 'em" and running to the locker room. Rowe rolled her eyes on camera.

The fake video spreads

An AI edit spoofing that moment showed Sarkisian slapping Rowe across the face. It circulated widely on TikTok and X over the weekend.
He called it hilarious
Asked Monday about AI edits from the game, Manning singled out the slapping clip, called it "a good one," and laughed with the room full of reporters.
“That's hilarious.”
The apology, a day later
On Tuesday Manning posted an Instagram Story calling his comment insensitive and hurtful, and apologized directly to Rowe by name.
“There is nothing funny about it.”
Rowe accepts and moves on

Rowe, a 30-year ESPN veteran, said the two spoke privately and shared his apology publicly. Sarkisian had also skipped a halftime ESPN hit that night over technical trouble.
“Apology accepted. We move forward with respect and kindness for one another.”
