Stockbridge's youngest mayor impeached

Jayden Williams, 23, was removed from office on a three-to-one vote after a 10-hour hearing Saturday. He faced accusations of charging $4,000 in personal expenses to a city credit card and sexting an 18-year-old male student.
Lawyer warns of dangerous precedent

Williams' attorney Robert Kenner argued prosecutors tried to defame the elected official and warned that removing him over unfounded accusations sets a risky example for democracy.
“You will be setting a dangerous precedent by removing an elected official”
Credit card spending under scrutiny
Williams spent $322 at upscale restaurant Pandora on the Square on Father's Day. He initially claimed it was for staff gift cards, then changed his story, saying it was a typo before claiming he bought cards for another company.
Sexting allegations with student
Williams allegedly exchanged explicit messages with an 18-year-old who met him through his personal mentoring program. Williams denied sending nude photos but admitted receiving one from the student.
Residents divided over removal

Some Stockbridge residents questioned the fairness of the impeachment, with voter Vickie Anderson calling it a nightmare and resident Kristina Warren saying Williams deserved a fair chance as a young leader.
“I just think that he deserves a more fair chance at being mayor.”
Williams has 30 days to appeal
The mayor's lawyer vowed to fight the removal and said an appeal is possible within 30 days. Williams has not been charged with any crimes related to the allegations.
