Harris cautions Democrats
Former Vice President Kamala Harris warns Democrats against impeaching President Trump for a third time if they regain House control in next week's midterm elections.
“I think that going in the direction of impeachment is not a good idea, just to be honest with you, just because we have limited resources.”
Harris on resource focus
Harris says energy and resources should be directed toward accountability and investigations rather than impeachment efforts.
“I think the energy and the resources need to be put into accountability, need to be put into investigations.”
Harris on Senate experience
Harris notes she was in the Senate during Trump's first impeachment and voted to convict him over Ukraine aid.
“Remember, I was in the Senate for the last go-round, and the votes aren’t there.”
Harris on political approach
Harris advises Democrats to be ruthless but not cruel in their approach to governance after elections.
“They’re [Republicans are] ruthless, but they’re cruel. And when I say we should be ruthless, I don’t mean cruel, but we should be uncompromising.”
Democrats' impeachment plans
House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries says Democrats haven’t ruled anything in or out regarding Trump impeachment but plan to target officials like War Secretary Pete Hegseth.
“Democrats haven’t ruled anything in, and we haven’t ruled anything out”
The takeaway
Harris says Democrats should focus on accountability and investigations instead of impeaching Trump for a third time.
