Deion Sanders blew up after a 31-point win

Colorado dropped 52 on Weber State and Coach Prime still told his locker room it wasn't a winning team.

In brief

Colorado dropped 52 on Weber State and Coach Prime still told his locker room it wasn't a winning team. Sanders is coaching to a national title standard, so a blowout win counts for nothing if his players are satisfied by it. Originally reported by Newsweek.

A blowout, and a blow-up

Colorado Buffaloes head coach Deion Sanders during game against Weber State

Colorado beat Weber State 52-21 to move to 2-0. Sanders walked into the locker room and told his players that performance was not what a winning team looks like.

“Is that a winning team, with a winning attitude?”

Tired of being the checker

He pushed the responsibility back onto the roster, asking why the standard always has to come from him instead of from the players themselves.

“Then what y'all gonna do about it? I always have to do something about it?”

Satisfied is the insult

The sharpest line was aimed at players content with the result. No dog, no killer, no pro, just comfortable with a win that looked good on paper.

“You definitely ain't no dog. You ain't no killer, and you definitely no pro”

No party, just conditioning

No party, just conditioning

Sanders promised a heavy day of running instead of a night out, framing the win as proof they had not found the recipe yet.

“this is not the winning recipe to win it all”

The numbers he ignored

Colorado piled up 578 total yards. Julian Lewis went 17 of 23 for 366 yards and four touchdowns, and Micah Welch ran for 106 and a score.

Title or bust in the Big 12

After critics questioned his job security, Sanders is 2-0 with a road upset at Georgia Tech. He wants a championship, in a Big 12 where Texas Tech, BYU and Utah all started hot.

“You guys are happy with winning the game. I'm trying to win it all!”

In short

Sanders is coaching to a national title standard, so a blowout win counts for nothing if his players are satisfied by it.
