Florida Gators' Championship Struggles

The Florida Gators haven't won a national championship since 2008 and have no SEC titles since then.

Jon Sumrall Hired as New Head Coach

Jon Sumrall was hired from Troy to lead the Florida Gators program.

Tebow's Personal Connection

Tebow said he loves Sumrall as a coach and as a husband and father.

“I love him the more that I’ve gotten to know him, as a coach but even more so just as a guy, as a husband, as a father.”

Sumrall's Leadership Needed

Tebow believes Sumrall has the charisma and confidence to lead Florida through pressure.

“There's a lot of pressure. There's a lot of eyeballs. You're expected to do really, really good, and sometimes, really good ain't good enough.”

Tebow Cites Past Coaches

Tebow points to Steve Spurrier and Urban Meyer as examples of confident coaches who brought championships to Florida.

“When we look at the really good coaches at Florida, specifically Spurrier and Urban, there's a little bit of confidence that goes to arrogance and a little bit of crazy.”

Sumrall's Potential Impact

Tebow thinks Sumrall can bring the 'it' factor needed to restore Florida's national championship success.

“I think Jon has the ability to bring that and I hope that continues to kind of develop.”
