Trump points at Biden's FBI
On Truth Social Tuesday, Trump called the federal investigation into the Butler shooting botched and said it was a Democrat plot to knock him out of the election.
“This was all a Democrat Plot, to get me out of the Election, that failed.”
He wants Wray punished
Trump singled out Christopher Wray, FBI director at the time, saying he should pay a price for how he ran the case and for what he said about it.

What happened at Butler
On July 13, 2024, Thomas Matthew Crooks fired from a rooftop with an assault rifle, killing one attendee, critically wounding two, and grazing Trump's ear. A Secret Service agent killed him.
A new trove of documents
Records went to Senator Chuck Grassley, who chairs Senate Judiciary and is trying to work out how Crooks got past security despite repeated warnings.
Ordering parts as "Bob Dole"
Crooks bought rifle parts and tools online under the name of the late Republican senator, shipped to his parents' house. Nobody knows why he picked that alias.
The motive is still missing
An anonymous donor paid for Crooks' cremation days after the attack. The FBI closed its investigation in 2025 without ever explaining why he did it.
