Robinson's indoor dream

Atlanta Falcons running back Bijan Robinson wants all NFL teams to play in domed stadiums year-round to avoid weather disruptions.

“I wish one day the NFL can make every team indoors. I think that would be sick.”

Current indoor advantage

Mercedes-Benz Stadium, the Falcons' home, has a retractable roof allowing games to be played without weather interference.

Weather challenges

Outdoor games face risks like heavy rain, snow, and strong winds that can disrupt play and player performance.

Purist resistance

Traditional football fans value outdoor games, especially in cities like Cleveland and Buffalo where weather is part of the game culture.

New stadium trends

Seven new NFL stadiums under construction include domes or retractable roofs, with Buffalo's Highmark Stadium being the exception.

Sonic partnership

Robinson promotes Sonic's $7 Big Deal Meal as a family-friendly option during football season.

Season schedule

The Falcons have five outdoor games remaining in their 2026 schedule before playing all indoor games.

Weather trade-offs

Players benefit from indoor play but still practice outdoors to improve performance in changing conditions.

Future possibilities

Robinson hopes indoor play becomes common within a decade, though it faces cultural resistance from traditional fans.
