The WNBA announced Monday that Minnesota Lynx head coach Cheryl Reeve won Basketball Executive of the Year for the third time, tying Atlanta Dream's Dan Padover for most selections.

Playoff Collapse Follows Award

Minnesota Lynx were swept out of the first round by New York Liberty and then swept in semifinals by Atlanta Dream after losing both playoff games by 16 points.

Reeve's Political Stance

Reeve has openly pushed for males to be included in women's sports and characterized male participation as an attack on the transgender community.

“They don't want transgender people to exist”

Rookie of the Year Selection

Reeve selected Olivia Miles with the No. 2 pick in 2026 WNBA Draft, who became unanimous Rookie of the Year and set league scoring record with 790 points.

Dallas Wings' Decision

Dallas Wings drafted Azzi Fudd with No. 1 pick in 2026 WNBA Draft instead of Olivia Miles, who was selected by Minnesota.

Reeve's Trade Decisions

Reeve traded for Sika Koné and a 2026 first-round pick from Chicago Sky in April 2024 and later acquired No. 11 pick for Hailey Van Lith in April 2025.

Playoff Performance

Minnesota Lynx lost both playoff games by 16 points, including a 91-75 home defeat in Game 1, despite having the league's best rookie.

Cheryl Reeve's Record

Reeve has four championships, three Coach of the Year awards, and three Executive of the Year awards but no championships in nine seasons since 2017.

What Happens Next

The WNBA will evaluate Reeve's leadership amid criticism over her political statements and playoff performance.
