Messi leads Inter Miami tonight
Inter Miami's captain Lionel Messi will play in the Campeones Cup against Cruz Azul on Wednesday, September 16 at 8 PM ET in Miami. Messi has scored five goals in his last four appearances.
What is the Campeones Cup
The Campeones Cup is an annual exhibition match between the reigning MLS Cup champion and the Liga MX champion. Inter Miami won the 2025 MLS Cup, while Cruz Azul earned Mexico's spot by defeating Toluca.
How Mexico picks its champion
Liga MX splits its season into two tournaments: Apertura and Clausura. If different teams win each, they play the Campeón de Campeones to determine Mexico's Campeones Cup representative. Cruz Azul won that match in 2026.
Apple TV is the exclusive broadcaster
Apple TV+ holds exclusive rights to broadcast the Campeones Cup. A subscription costs $14.99 per month in the US, but first-time subscribers have multiple free trial options available.
Three ways to watch for free
New Apple device owners get a three-month free trial within 90 days of purchase. Apple TV also offers a seven-day free trial through its app, and the Apple One bundle includes a 30-day free trial.
Messi's form heading into the match
Messi recently retired from international soccer after Argentina's World Cup final run. He's now focused solely on club soccer with Inter Miami and arrives in strong form with five goals in his last four games.
Inter Miami's star-studded roster
Beyond Messi, Inter Miami features other major signings including Luis Suárez, Casemiro, and Rodrigo De Paul. The team is stacked with talent heading into the Campeones Cup.
