Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico called Thursday for removal of a satirical nude Trump statue from the European Parliament, describing it as a sign of EU decline.

The Orange Plague unveiled

Danish artist Jens Galschiøt unveiled the two point six metre sculpture Tuesday in Parliament's Strasbourg building. It depicts a nude, gold-leaf-covered Trump on a man's shoulders, holding a golf club and scales of justice.

“I am sitting on the back of a man. He is sinking under my burden.”

Fico says it insults partners

Fico wrote that while he does not agree with all Trump policies, insulting partners on official premises demonstrates a failure to understand current times and shows spiritual bankruptcy.

“insulting our partners on official premises demonstrates a profound failure to understand the times we live in.”

Danish MEP defends the work

Per Clausen, the left-wing MEP who invited the artist, defended the installation, saying leaders too thin-skinned to tolerate such sculpture have no place on the world stage.

“If someone is so thin-skinned that they cannot tolerate this sculpture … then they have no place on the world stage.”
