Russia strikes Kyiv without warning

Russia attacked the Ukrainian capital with over one hundred drones and five ballistic missiles on Tuesday. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Ukraine received no advance warning from Western partners.

“Regarding this strike, unfortunately, there was no warning from partners.”

Early warning saves lives, Zelenskyy says

Zelenskyy stressed that intelligence on Russian ballistic missile launches is critical to prevent deaths. Early warning allows people to take shelter before strikes hit.

“Intelligence on Russian ballistic missile launches helps save lives, and this is one of the most critical issues.”

U.S. blames bad weather for no alert

The U.S. and NATO told Ukraine that bad weather conditions prevented the warning. An official told POLITICO that Kyiv views this as inadequate and worries the real reason may differ.

Russia breaks energy ceasefire agreement

Zelenskyy said Ukraine stopped striking Russian oil refineries for two days after President Trump announced an energy ceasefire. Russia attacked nineteen Ukrainian regions in those two days alone.

“Ukraine has not carried out strikes on Russian oil refineries or the energy sector in general for the two days since the American President announced an energy ceasefire.”

Trump claims both sides agreed to pause

President Donald Trump said Monday that Russia and Ukraine both agreed to an energy ceasefire. He added that if violated, both sides violated it, and urged Zelenskyy to make a deal.

“Actually he wants to make a deal, and we have to get Zelenskyy to want to make a deal.”

The takeaway

Russia struck Kyiv with over 100 drones and five ballistic missiles without warning, prompting President Zelenskyy to criticise the lack of advance intelligence from Western partners.
