The Truck Boss

Country music singer Brian

He kept operating a dump truck through the band's whole run, and his family says he loved it because it kept him outdoors. They called him the Truck Boss.

“Whether working or relaxing, Brian was happiest surrounded by nature.”

How he got the name

He sang everywhere, at fairs, festivals, weddings, ribbon cuttings. That habit of never turning down a chance to sing is where the nickname came from.

Taylor Made was a family act. Brian performed alongside his brother Greg Duckworth and his sister Wendy Williams for years on the regional circuit.

Bigger than a local act

Taylor Made broke through in 2012 with the single "Things You Don't Grow Out Of," opened for Miranda Lambert and Dierks Bentley, and took MusicRow's Independent Artist of the Year in 2013.

His niece Brianna called him whenever she got stuck writing. He had just phoned her about a new song idea before he died.

“Guess I should get to work on that.”

The takeaway

Duckworth built a real country career without ever leaving the truck seat or the family that made the music with him.
