Two very different injury reports

The Eagles go into Week 1 against Washington close to full strength. The Commanders are missing their starting left tackle, their intended top cornerback and several more.
“The Philadelphia Eagles are mostly healthy heading into their Week 1 matchup with the Washington Commanders.”
Covey gets called up
Britain Covey comes off the practice squad for the opener. He'll handle punt returns and probably kick returns too.
Greenard eases in
The edge rusher missed all of training camp but practiced in the run-up to Week 1. He's inactive here, with no rush to force him back.
Hunt and Smith carry the edge
Jalyx Hunt had a strong camp and Nolan Smith finished well, so Vic Fangio can start them without worrying about Greenard's timeline.
“Jalyx Hunt had a fantastic camp, and Nolan Smith finished strongly”
Andy Dalton is QB2

Tanner McKee is inactive as the emergency third quarterback, which settles the backup question behind center. Dalton is the one who dresses.
“We finally have an answer on who the Eagles' QB2 is.”
Cole Payton waits his turn
The QB4 is a good athlete who played on the punt team in preseason. There's a path to him being active later in some non-quarterback role, just not now.
Special teams decide the last spot
Elijah Moore doesn't offer anything on special teams, so Darius Cooper dresses ahead of him at receiver.
“Moore doesn't offer special teams chops”
Morris makes the roster, not the field
Guard Micah Morris showed enough in camp to stick, but he's a developmental lineman who should be a regular on the inactive list.
Stowers lands on IR
The second-round tight end was drafted for his athletic traits but had a rough rookie camp. A hamstring injury sent him to IR, costing him at least four games.
Tunsil's torn triceps
Washington's best player tore his triceps in camp and will miss a long stretch. The replacement is Brandon Coleman, who has started at left tackle before but is a clear step down.
“Massive downgrade.”
The injury spreads to guard
Coleman was supposed to win the left guard job. Moving him outside hands that spot to Chris Paul, so one injury weakened two positions on the line.
“the Tunsil injury didn't just cause a downgrade at LT. It also caused a less than ideal outcome at LG too.”
No Trey Amos at corner
A fractured fibula last November, then a camp ankle injury, have left Washington's projected top cornerback with almost no practice reps. He's out at least four games.
Sainristil leads a patched secondary
With Amos on IR, the corner group falls to Mike Sainristil, Amik Robertson and Rasul Douglas.
A thin defensive front
Dorance Armstrong is suspended a game, Jer'Zhan Newton tore a pectoral, and Deatrich Wise opens on PUP still recovering from a quad tear. Running back Jeremy McNichols is on IR too.
“The Commanders already have a shaky interior D-line rotation, as is.”
What it means
The Commanders' injury list, not the Eagles', is what shapes this Week 1 matchup: no Tunsil at left tackle, no Trey Amos at corner, and a thin interior line.
