Literary speakeasy opens in Philly
The Pumpkin Press, a Halloween pop-up at Newsroom Philly in Northern Liberties, draws inspiration from Edgar Allan Poe and Washington Irving's Sleepy Hollow through November 1.
Location near Poe's historic home
The speakeasy sits at 1102 Germantown Avenue, steps from the Edgar Allan Poe National Historic Site, the only surviving Philadelphia home where Poe lived from 1843 to 1844.
Atmospheric décor throughout
Ravens, candlelight, pumpkins, Headless Horseman imagery and a hidden black cat fill the book-lined space, with literary references woven throughout the pop-up.
Themed cocktails on the menu
The Headless Horseman features mezcal and smoke, Moon Over Sleepy Hollow combines vodka and pomegranate, and The Raven's Cauldron is a large-format rum drink for four served with dry ice.
Pumpkin spice and seasonal drinks
A Pumpkin Spice Old Fashioned comes with pumpkin-shaped ice, alongside other seasonal cocktails inspired by the Halloween and literary themes.
Regular food menu available
Newsroom's standard food offerings remain available during the pop-up, so guests can enjoy full dining alongside the themed cocktails.
Open through November 1
The Pumpkin Press runs through November 1 before Newsroom switches to its holiday theme. Reservations are encouraged and available through Resy.
