Mastercard and Alchemy partner on AI shopping

Mastercard and blockchain infrastructure provider Alchemy announced a partnership this week to enable AI agents to autonomously buy products on behalf of users anywhere Mastercard is accepted online.

AgentCard handles any online purchase

Alchemy's AgentCard, launched in March, lets AI agents buy anything from inference and APIs to DoorDash and Amazon orders, marketing services, and trades on Polymarket.

Verifiable Intent protects your main card

The partnership uses Mastercard's Verifiable Intent framework, which links your identity, instructions, and transaction details into a tamper-resistant record while keeping your everyday card protected.

Mastercard launched Agent Pay last year

Mastercard introduced Agent Pay in April 2025 as an AI-driven payment program designed to unlock agentic commerce with trust, security, and control. Verifiable Intent was added in March 2026.

132 million consumers already using AI

Mastercard's U.S. co-president noted that about 132 million consumers are using AI, and shopping is increasingly becoming part of that activity.

Alchemy also integrated with Visa

In June, Alchemy integrated AgentCard with Visa Intelligent Commerce, giving AI agents a complete identity and payment stack for making online purchases on consumers' behalf across both payment networks.
