Oyster Builds Its First Catamaran

After 53 years of monohulls, Oyster Yachts answered its owners and drew up a 64-foot cruising cat.

In brief

After 53 years of monohulls, Oyster Yachts answered its owners and drew up a 64-foot cruising cat. Oyster's C60 is a bet that its bluewater buyers now want two hulls, with the space and stability that come with them. Originally reported by Robb Report.

A first in 53 years

Oyster Yachts, the British builder known for bluewater monohulls, has unveiled the first sailing catamaran in its history.

“Oyster Yachts is sailing into new territory.”

Owners asked for it

The company says buyers shifted toward multihulls as their lives changed, and prospective owners wanted an Oyster with two hulls.

“We have always evolved by listening to our owners.”

Drawn with French firm Berret-Racoupeau, the C60 aims for multihull stability and space, motor yacht luxury, and sailing yacht performance in 64 feet.

Wide doors link the salon to an aft deck with fold-out platforms that become waterside terraces. A shared bar, a recessed foredeck lounge and a flybridge round it out.

Private owner's suite

The owner's cabin sits away from guest and crew areas and carries Oyster's triple Seascape windows. Three more cabins, all en suite, handle long trips with family.

Built for long passages

Preliminary specs call for twin 110 hp engines and about 1,300 square feet of mainsail. Up to three feet of bridgedeck clearance helps offshore. No speed or range figures yet.

The big picture

Oyster's C60 is a bet that its bluewater buyers now want two hulls, with the space and stability that come with them.
