Buffy Gets a Second Life in Plastic

In brief
The Hulu reboot is dead, so Monster High gave Buffy and Angel a collector doll set instead. Buffy's cultural pull is strong enough to keep generating new merch decades after the show ended, even with no new screen chapter coming. Originally reported by Rolling Stone.
The reboot died, the doll lives

Sarah Michelle Gellar confirmed in May that Hulu passed on the Buffy revival. Months later, Monster High shipped a Buffy and Angel two-pack instead.
“The Buffy the Vampire Slayer reboot may be dead, but the high school Slayer is getting a new lease on life in plastic.”
Buffy dressed for patrol

Black pleather jacket, red pants, holster belt. She comes armed with a stake and a crossbow, SoCal style meeting Slayer gear.
Accessories for the obsessives
Her handbag is shaped like a book, a nod to Giles. More weapons are tucked into the heels of her boots.
“Even Buffy's accessories get a deep-cut treatment.”
Angel brings the brood
He gets a black faux-leather trenchcoat and a necklace modeled on the sword Buffy runs him through with in a season finale. Each doll is about 11.25 inches.
Cheaper ways in

The Skullector set runs $100 on Amazon with stands and a Certificate of Authenticity. A 3.75-inch Funko Pop of Buffy with the scythe is $15.99.
Why it still sells

Buffy ran on the WB from 1997 to 2003, mixing horror, comedy and teenage dread. Gellar played her funny, stubborn and flawed, and that stuck.
“She was funny, flawed, stubborn, vulnerable, and, when necessary, extremely good at killing vampires.”
The main idea
Buffy's cultural pull is strong enough to keep generating new merch decades after the show ended, even with no new screen chapter coming.
