2027 Opening Day Lineup Projection
San Francisco Giants can fill a plausible 2027 Opening Day lineup but need to settle several jobs before manager Tony Vitello writes one with confidence.
First Projection Details
This first version uses current players and assumes starters are healthy for Opening Day, representing one possible batting order against a right-handed starter.
Key Positions
Second base, left field and catcher remain competitive assignments, while first base/DH distribution needs clarification.
Player Projections
Jung Hoo Lee leads off, Bryce Eldridge bats second, Rafael Devers plays DH, and Willy Adames is the expected shortstop.
Health and Trade Updates
Offseason additions, trades and medical updates will determine how much of this first version survives.
Version 1.0: Projected Batting Order
San Francisco Giants right fielder Jung Hoo Lee is projected as leadoff, with Bryce Eldridge at first base and Rafael Devers in DH role.
Second Base Competition
Casey Schmitt gets initial nod after hitting .271/.301/.483 with 21 home runs in 2026, but his knee recovery keeps competition open.
Left Field Options
Bo Davidson has 29 minor league home runs but brief Major League experience leaves left field open with Drew Gilbert and Victor Bericoto as alternatives.
Center Field Status
Harrison Bader remains under contract but foot recovery makes center field conditional, with Gilbert and Jonah Cox as alternatives.
Catcher Uncertainty
Daniel Susac gets first opportunity if knee is ready, but Drew Cavanaugh and Jesús Rodríguez remain alternatives for catching duties.
