Star Trek: Starfleet Academy Canceled

Paramount+ canceled Starfleet Academy just two months after its January 2026 premiere.

Season 2 Ordered During Filming

Season 2 was ordered while filming season 1 and wrapped before Paramount+ canceled the show.

Robert Picardo's Update

Robert Picardo says season 2 'looks spectacular' and is 'even better' than season 1.

“I hear season 2 is even better from the producers. I’ve seen quite a bit of it while I’ve been doing ADR on it, and it looks spectacular.”

Killed In The Cradle

Picardo compared Starfleet Academy's cancellation to being 'killed in the cradle' due to current political climate.

“We were kind of killed in the cradle, and I believe part of it is the present political moment in our culture that diversity, that all of Star Trek’s core values are now out of fashion temporarily.”

Star Trek Values Under Attack

Picardo said Star Trek's core values of diversity and inclusion are temporarily out of fashion due to political climate.

“We see diversity under attack, and therefore Star Trek is under attack because that’s what Star Trek’s always been about.”

Season 2 Features Bill Nighy

Season 2 includes special guest stars Bill Nighy and Rosemarie DeWitt for cadet missions.

Final Season Launch

Starfleet Academy season 2 will air on Paramount+ in March 2027 after Paramount+ canceled the show in February 2026.
