Shooting at Moss Landing Beach

Two people were killed and two others were injured in a shooting at a popular Monterey County beach early Monday morning.

“The individuals that were declared deceased appear to have died as a result of gunshot injuries”

Authorities Respond to Gunfire

Monterey County sheriff’s deputies, California State Parks officers and California Highway Patrol officers responded to reports of gunfire along Jetty Road near Moss Landing State Beach shortly before 2 a.m.

Two Deceased, Two Injured

Officers arrived to find two people who were pronounced dead at the scene, with a third person having gunshot injuries and a fourth transported with non-life-threatening injuries.

Investigations Continue

Investigators have not identified the victims or determined what led to the gunfire, and are working to establish whether the individuals knew each other.
