Hadjar stays at Red Bull through 2027
Red Bull confirmed Isack Hadjar will remain as Max Verstappen's teammate for the 2027 Formula 1 season. The 21-year-old has impressed since joining the team at the start of 2026.
Injury forced three-race absence

Hadjar suffered a wrist fracture during the summer break while boxing in training. He missed the last three rounds but is fit enough to return at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix.
Team principal praises his progress
Laurent Mekies said Hadjar has been superb on and off track, immersing himself in the team and handling the step up to Red Bull with remarkable composure since Melbourne.
“Since joining us at the start of the year, he has been superb on and off track”
Toughest seat on the grid
The second Red Bull seat is widely regarded as the hardest on the F1 grid. Pierre Gasly, Alex Albon, Liam Lawson and Yuki Tsunoda all struggled against Verstappen there.
Hadjar more competitive than predecessors

Hadjar has been closer to Verstappen than previous teammates and has even beaten him at times this season. He is probably Verstappen's most competitive teammate since Daniel Ricciardo.
Still eighth despite missing races
Despite missing three race weekends, Hadjar remains eighth in the Drivers' Championship. He also reclaimed his Monaco podium after Red Bull and McLaren successfully appealed Gasly's penalty.
Mekies backs Hadjar's potential
The team principal said the contract extension is a testament to how much Red Bull believes in Hadjar. He expressed confidence that the team is heading in the right direction together.
“This extension is a testament to how much we believe in him”
Hadjar relaxed about negotiations
Hadjar said he did not even know the length of his new contract. He let his management handle talks and prefers to do his talking on track.
“If you're good, you stay, and that's it”
Wrist fracture still healing
Hadjar has a small fracture outside his wrist that requires no surgery. He said it will be painful for a while but simulator testing showed he is strong enough to handle the cockpit.
“It's still going to be painful for a while, but now it's strong enough”
No new training restrictions
Red Bull has not placed new restrictions on Hadjar's training program following the boxing injury. He said he will just be more careful and strap himself in future.
Verstappen signed through 2030
Red Bull announced last month that four-time world champion Max Verstappen signed a new contract to stay with the team until at least the end of 2030.
Top four teams locked in for 2027
Mercedes, Ferrari, McLaren and Red Bull have all confirmed their driver lineups for 2027 with no changes. Hamilton joins Ferrari while Antonelli partners Russell at Mercedes.
Alonso's future still uncertain
Fernando Alonso is considering his future at Aston Martin and is the biggest stumbling block in the driver market. He says news will not come soon as he is unhappy with current F1 regulations.
Haas and Racing Bulls still sorting drivers
Oliver Bearman is set to stay at Haas but Esteban Ocon could lose his seat. Racing Bulls must decide between Arvid Lindblad and Liam Lawson as both are performing well.
Camara set for Haas debut
Ferrari junior Rafael Camara is expected to get his F1 debut at Haas for 2027 after an impressive Formula 2 campaign. The Brazilian has impressed in the junior series.
Red Bull junior Tsolov in contention
Red Bull junior Nikola Tsolov is the current F2 championship leader. Red Bull historically gives promising youngsters early F1 opportunities, but Racing Bulls has a tricky decision to make.
In short
Hadjar has been Red Bull's most competitive teammate for Verstappen in years, making his contract extension straightforward despite missing three races with a wrist injury.
