Aina launches AI-controlled smart ring
Hardware startup Aina released a smart ring today with a screen, joystick, microphone and speaker. The $399 device lets you talk to AI agents, take notes and make calls.
Aina raised five point five million in July
The startup, which raised $5.5 million in July, is positioning the ring as a controller for both AI and non-AI apps on your Mac and phone.
Built on lessons from Mirage controller
Aina previously made Mirage, a three-key controller for Mac that let you map buttons to app functions like camera on/off or mic mute during Google Meet calls.
Ring features joystick and gesture control
The ring has a joystick for navigation and supports gestures to trigger actions based on what's on your Mac or phone screen. It can control music and smart home devices like Apple TV.
Founder explains the design philosophy
Apoorv Shankar, Aina's founder, told TechCrunch: "Phones and laptop screens were designed for an age of browsing where you think about opening apps. For interacting with proactive agents, we need a better interface."
