Voice AI finds its moment

Voice AI has gained traction in two main areas: meeting notetaking and AI-powered dictation that removes filler words and formats text neatly.
Fireflies launches Talk dictation
Fireflies.ai, which dominates meeting notetaking, is now entering dictation with Fireflies Talk on Mac and Windows apps, competing with Wispr Flow, Willow and Superwhisper.
How Fireflies Talk works
Users press Fn on Mac or Ctrl plus Win on Windows to start speaking in any app. Fireflies records and transcribes the voice into text automatically.
Three times faster than typing

Fireflies CEO Krish Ramineni said people speak roughly three times faster than they type, and voice is a much more natural way to get work done.
“People speak roughly 3x faster than they type, and voice is a much more natural way to get work done.”
Bundled into existing plans
Fireflies included dictation in its existing subscription plans rather than charging separately. The company stores transcripts locally and keeps no recordings.
Expanding beyond meetings
Ramineni said Talk takes Fireflies beyond meetings into email, Slack, docs and prompts. The company plans to build an assistant that uses meeting context to automate workflows.
“Talk takes Fireflies beyond meetings into email, Slack, docs, prompts, and wherever else you work.”
