Treble raises $18M to power the voice AI boom

An Iceland startup is building the testing and simulation infrastructure that voice AI companies desperately need.

In brief

An Iceland startup is building the testing and simulation infrastructure that voice AI companies desperately need. As voice AI becomes critical to everything from smart speakers to wearables, the infrastructure to test and improve these systems is becoming as valuable as the models themselves. Voice AI is the hottest sector

Investors are pouring billions into voice AI for customer support, sales calls, meeting notes, and smart glasses. But all this new technology needs testing and feedback loops.

Meet Treble, the testing platform

Meet Treble, the testing platform

Founded in 2020 by acoustic engineers Finnur Pind and Jesper Pedersen, Treble positions itself at the center of voice AI by creating a simulation platform for model makers, robotics companies, and hardware makers.

Treble just raised $18 million

The Series A extension was led by Paladin Capital Group with participation from KOMPAS VC, Frumtak Ventures, EIC, and Omega ehf. Total funding now exceeds $40 million since 2024.

Synthetic data for better models

Treble generates synthetic audio data for speech enhancement, noise suppression, and model training. It also evaluates voice AI models in different conditions and partnered with Hugging Face to benchmark speech recognition.

“Audio AI is really a data challenge, and this is where the most opportunities to enable next-generation models and hardware lie.”

Hardware testing and optimization

Hardware testing and optimization

Treble helps headphone and speaker companies with virtual prototyping and tests how smart speakers understand commands based on positioning. It recently expanded into smart glasses and AI device testing.

The superhuman hearing opportunity

Treble is excited about wearables that enhance hearing in challenging environments. Imagine filtering restaurant noise to hear only nearby conversations or muting people around you in a seminar.

Expanding into physical AI

Treble aims to increase focus on robotics, automotive, and drone companies to enable sound-based functions through testing and simulation. This positions the platform as critical infrastructure.

Infrastructure becomes increasingly valuable

Infrastructure becomes increasingly valuable

As more products depend on understanding sound, Treble's simulation platform becomes critical infrastructure. Customers keep ownership of their models while benefiting from shared acoustic infrastructure.

The bottom line

As voice AI becomes critical to everything from smart speakers to wearables, the infrastructure to test and improve these systems is becoming as valuable as the models themselves.
