Apple unveils eighth-generation iPad mini

Apple has unveiled the eighth-generation iPad mini, arriving two years and three days after the iPad mini eight point three-inch from two thousand twenty-four. Orders begin October twenty-eighth, twenty twenty-six.

Larger OLED screen with brighter display

The new iPad mini features an eight point five-inch OLED Super Retina XDR screen, zero point two inches larger than the previous Liquid Retina display.

Bezels shrink while size stays the same

Apple's design team shrank the bezels by twenty-four percent all around while keeping the same overall dimensions. The P three color gamut and True Tone technology remain supported.

Display locked at sixty hertz refresh rate

The new OLED screen still supports only sixty hertz refresh rate, meaning the iPad Pro remains Apple's only one hundred twenty hertz-compatible iPad.

New Acoustic Display improves audio

Custom-designed woofers sit in the screen for higher peak volume and stronger bass. Tweeters between the aluminum and glass improve high-end audio over the previous mini's stereo speakers.

Nano-Texture option reduces reflections

A Nano-Texture display option, trickling down from the iPad Pro, blocks natural and artificial reflections. It costs one hundred dollars and requires at least the two hundred fifty-six gigabyte model.

IP sixty-seven water and dust resistance

The aluminum design now includes IP sixty-seven water and dust resistance, making it more durable on the go and potentially a better option as a kids' tablet.

Thinner and lighter than before

The new iPad mini measures five point three three millimetres thick and weighs two hundred fifty-four grams, compared to six point three five millimetres and two hundred ninety-five grams previously.

Color options narrow to two choices

The new iPad mini comes in Starlight or Midnight only, ending options for Blue, Purple, and Space Gray.

A twenty Pro chip with two configurations

The eighth-generation iPad mini gets Apple's two nanometre A twenty Pro chip.The one hundred twenty-eight and two hundred fifty-six gigabyte models have a five-core CPU and seven-core GPU.

Significant performance gains over A seventeen Pro

Apple promises up to sixty percent faster multithreaded CPU performance, four point five times faster AI performance, and two point seven times better graphics performance compared to the A seventeen Pro.

Connectivity and camera specs unchanged

Wi-Fi seven, Bluetooth six, and Thread are supported via the Apple-made N one chip.The C two modem enables up to fifty percent faster cellular data speeds.

The new iPad mini starts at six hundred ninety-nine dollars for Wi-Fi or eight hundred forty-nine dollars for Wi-Fi and Cellular.

Orders open October twenty-eighth, shipping November sixth

Apple begins taking orders on October twenty-eighth, twenty twenty-six at ten ten am PT, one ten pm ET, five ten pm GMT. Shipping begins November sixth, twenty twenty-six.
