Google adds offline translation
Google's Live Translate tool now works without an internet connection on select Pixel phones. The feature enables real-time conversation translation even when traveling or in areas without data coverage.
Limited to select Pixel models
The offline Live Translate feature only works on newer Pixel phone models. Older Pixel devices and non-Google phones cannot access this capability.
Supports 11 languages only
The offline mode currently supports just 11 languages for translation. This is a smaller selection compared to Google Translate's full online capabilities.
Perfect for travelers
The offline feature makes Live Translate ideal for international travel when roaming charges or connectivity are concerns. Users can translate conversations in real-time without relying on data.
Download languages before traveling
Users need to download language packs before going offline to enable translation. This requires planning ahead but ensures the feature works anywhere without connectivity.
