Two AI chiefs, one stage

At the Dreamforce 2026 opening keynote, Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff questioned Nvidia's Jensen Huang and Anthropic's Dario Amodei. Their views on where AI is heading were noticeably different.
AI safety, car industry style

Amodei compared AI to the motor industry, where companies learn from each other's safety records. He also wants to work across borders to set shared standards.
“I think that's the way to lead the industry forward, to set an example, to say that everyone can always be better”
The speed caught Anthropic off guard
His biggest surprise of the past decade was how fast things moved, in both the technology and its economic impact. Anthropic didn't expect some companies to grow so quickly and become part of everyday life.
“pace of the progress”
Most of the value is untapped

Amodei said that if AI development stopped today, we would still only be using about 5 to 10% of its possible value. He thinks tools like Claude could still open up whole new areas of business.
“there's so much diffusion left”
Huang calls it a revolution

Huang was far more upbeat. He led Benioff on a walk around the keynote theatre and described AI as a turning point on the scale of industrialisation.
“We're going through a new industrial revolution”
Safety is an engineering problem
Huang called safety job one, but said it gets solved through engineering, not by slowing down. He said you don't have to choose between speed and safety.
“It's a false choice”
Run fast, pause if needed
His advice on model protections was to move as fast as possible. If a company feels out of control or a product won't be safe, it should stop and fix it before shipping.
“take a pause and make sure you get it right”
Don't get left behind

Huang wants to "Agentforce every company" and put AI into real use. His message to businesses was to keep going even if AI doesn't pay off right away.
“if it doesn't work for you straight away, don't give up on it”
The essence
Both CEOs think AI's value is only starting to show. Amodei stresses setting safety standards, while Huang says speed and safety can go together.
