Forever won't get modern races

Blizzard confirmed World of Warcraft: Forever will not add any new races from retail World of Warcraft, since the game exists in its own timeline.

No races from recent expansions

Blizzard said it has no plans to reintroduce races from Azeroth-based expansions such as Battle for Azeroth, Shadowlands, or Midnight. Fans shouldn't expect Vulpera, Goblins, or Haranir.

Building on foundational lore

Blizzard's main focus is to build off the foundational lore of Warcraft, starting with the real-time strategy games and content that picks up after Warcraft three: Forsaken Kingdom.

Because Forever exists in its own continuity, Blizzard can forge its own path forward and tell stories that serve this world first, rather than retreading modern WoW's extensively told narratives.

Stories will be grounded

Blizzard plans to keep Forever's stories very grounded. While modern WoW stakes are vast and weighty, Forever will start in a different place with more subtle, grounded interactions with larger narratives.

In Forever, players won't be the hero of the world. Blizzard emphasised that you aren't the hero in WoW: Forever, you are just a hero, reflecting the original game's approach.

Maybe later, but Forever's version

Blizzard teased that Forever may eventually visit places from later WoW expansions, but it's committed to creating Forever's own versions of those places rather than retreading existing ones.
