Bradish diagnosed with sports hernia
Testing revealed Orioles right-hander Kyle Bradish has a sports hernia after being placed on the injured list Sunday. Manager Craig Albernaz said the team is evaluating all options before considering surgery.
“"He's banged up," Albernaz said of Holliday. "All of our guys are banged up."”
Bradish's season performance declining
The right-hander threw 155 innings with a 4.12 ERA, but struggled down the stretch with a 5.83 ERA over his last nine starts. The lower abdominal strain had been bothering him for some time.
Holliday placed on injured list
Orioles infielder Jackson Holliday went on the 10-day injured list with left wrist inflammation, retroactive to Tuesday. He could return before the season ends, with an earliest possible return date of September 25.
Holliday's injury history this season
This is Holliday's second stint on the injured list. He missed the start of the season with a broken hamate bone that required surgery. In 98 games, he's hitting .229 with a .640 OPS.
Barrero called up to replace Holliday
Baltimore selected the contract of utility infielder José Barrero to fill the roster spot. Barrero is hitting .202 with a .705 OPS at Triple-A Norfolk.
