Kyle Bradish's season ends in Toronto

In brief
A pitcher back from Tommy John surgery hits the wall six weeks from the finish line, and Baltimore has to plan around him. Bradish's year ended early, but 155 innings and a 4.12 ERA in his first full season back from elbow surgery is the number that actually matters. Originally reported by The Banner.
Shut down in Toronto
The Orioles placed Kyle Bradish on the 15-day injured list with lower abdominal discomfort. With 13 games left, that ends his regular season.
The full-season line
Bradish threw 155 innings with a 4.12 ERA, his heaviest workload since 2023 and his first full season since then.
Six weeks of trouble
His last nine starts carried a 5.83 ERA, capped by five runs in three innings against the Blue Jays on Saturday. He said his command was off all year.
“It's been a tough six weeks. Don't really have answers for it.”
Fatigue, not the arm
Bradish blamed neither velocity nor his elbow, and his speed held up deep into the year. Manager Craig Albernaz noted he had gone well past his 2024 and 2025 innings loads.
“Arm feels great.”
Who covers his starts
Baltimore recalled right-hander Yaramil Hiraldo for the bullpen. Cade Povich and Trey Gibson are the candidates to take Bradish's next turn in the rotation.
A door still open
The Orioles sit three games back in the wild card, and Bradish could return if they reach the postseason. He signed a five-year extension through 2031 and heads into a normal offseason.
In short
Bradish's year ended early, but 155 innings and a 4.12 ERA in his first full season back from elbow surgery is the number that actually matters.
