Ford Cuts 150k Sales for New EV
Ford lost 150,000 Escape and Corsair sales to build its new budget EV.
In brief
Ford lost 150,000 Escape and Corsair sales to build its new budget EV. Ford sold 114,000 Escapes and 19,000 Corsairs last year but only 37,000 this year, a deficit of nearly 100,000 units. Originally reported by The Drive.
Ford Discontinued Escape and Corsair

Ford discontinued the Escape and its more-expensive Lincoln sibling, the Corsair, last year to free up space at its Louisville plant.
Sales Deficit for Escape and Corsair
By this time last year, Ford had sold 114,000 Escapes and 19,000 Corsairs. This year, the final production vehicles still trickling through Ford’s dealer network have accounted for about 37,000 units combined.
Deficit of Nearly 100,000 Units
That’s a deficit of nearly 100,000 units just so far this year, and the clock is still counting down to the unveiling of Ford’s new EV.
Bronco Sport Sales Stagnant

Bronco Sport sales have been stagnant so far in 2026. There was a decent uptick in Q3, but so far the model range is only up 2.9% (about 3,000 units) for the year.
Explorers and Mustangs Not Enough
Perhaps some of them purchased Explorers; those are up nearly 18% so far in 2026, but even if every single one of those customers was converted from Escape, that would only account for 29,000 more sales.
F-Series Down 2% in Q3
The F-Series as a whole was down slightly in Q3. Ford hoped to see a big bounce-back with one of its primary aluminum suppliers resuming production after a fire last October took it offline for months.
In short
Ford sold 114,000 Escapes and 19,000 Corsairs last year but only 37,000 this year, a deficit of nearly 100,000 units.
