Asia's first telecom hub takes shape

India is building a dedicated telecom manufacturing zone in Gwalior with 24 companies investing 5,500 crore rupees. The project will create over 18,000 direct jobs and establish a complete industrial ecosystem.

“Project is not about setting up a single industrial unit, but about creating a complete industrial ecosystem comprising 24-25 telecom manufacturing units in Gwalior.”

Land secured for manufacturing hub

Approximately 170 acres have been identified across SADA and the IT Park for the telecom manufacturing zone. Investor demand has already exceeded available land, prompting plans for expansion.

Roadshows secure major commitments

Investment roadshows in Delhi and Mumbai in August generated 3,500 crore rupees and 2,000 crore rupees in commitments respectively. Twenty-four companies have now formally applied to establish units in the zone.

Gwalior's infrastructure advantages

The city offers strong connectivity through a new high-speed corridor to Delhi, major railway routes, and an airport built in 16 months. Gwalior also produces 25,000 engineering graduates annually for skilled workforce needs.

Government support and incentives

Madhya Pradesh offers incentives linked to land, power, employment, and production, plus environmental sustainability benefits. The Department of Telecommunications is providing a Common Testing Lab package worth 500 crore rupees.

Counter Magnet City vision realized

The telecom manufacturing zone builds on Gwalior's original Counter Magnet City concept, designed to develop the region as an industrial centre independent of Delhi. The zone will cover six key verticals of telecom manufacturing.

Next phase: Bengaluru investor roadshow

Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia will travel to Bengaluru on September 22 to conduct another investor roadshow with telecom sector companies. The government aims to attract additional manufacturers to the zone.

The essence

India is establishing Asia's first dedicated telecom manufacturing zone in Gwalior with significant private sector investment and government support to build a complete industrial ecosystem.
