Man dies in Saran district

A fifty-eight-year-old man died on Friday, October two, twenty twenty-six after allegedly being hit by relief material dropped from a helicopter in flood-hit Saran district of Bihar.

The incident and the victim

The incident took place on Friday afternoon near a relief camp in Parshurampur village in the Amnour police station area. The deceased was identified as Anil Kumar Singh, a resident of the same village.

Police account of the incident

Savindra Kumar Das, Sub-Divisional Police Officer at Marhaura, said around three thirty pm on Friday a relief material packet dropped by a helicopter allegedly hit a man on his head, causing his death.

“Prima facie, it appears that around 3.30 p.m. on Friday, a relief material packet dropped by a helicopter allegedly hit a man on his head, causing his death.”

No injury marks found

Vimlesh Kumar, Station House Officer at Amnour police station, cited villagers' allegation that the man died after being hit by the relief packet but clarified that no injury marks were found either on his head or other parts of the body.

Another helicopter incident reported

A low-flying helicopter caused a tin shed to blow away and hit a woman on her leg, leading to a minor injury. She was treated at a medical facility and is fine now.

Investigation and autopsy pending

The body has been sent to a hospital for post-mortem examination. Police are conducting further investigation, with the exact cause of death to be ascertained only after receiving the autopsy report.
